APPEC Roadmap Launch

appec launch
The Astroparticle Physics European Consortium (APPEC) will proudly present the new European Astroparticle Physics Strategy 2017-2026. The event will take place on 9 January 2018 in Residence Palace, Brussels.

The new APPEC strategy will be presented, addressing scientific issues and an update of the long term scientific strategies. Crucial organisational aspects and societal issues like global collaboration, community building, gender balance, education, public outreach and relations with industry will be discussed. By acting coherently upon these recommendations, Europe will be able to fully exploit the tantalizing discovery potential in Astroparticle Physics.

Trento 2018

Trento18
The 13th "Trento" Workshop on Advanced Silicon Radiation Detectors takes place in Munich from the 19th to 21st of February 2018.

Continuing in its tradition, the goal of the workshop is to bring together experts on sensor technology (design and processing), front-end electronics, system issues, detector applications (e.g. particle tracking, medical and biological imaging) for discussions of the present state of the art, establishment of requirements of the fields  and future programs.

The workshop will feature invited talks and contributed presentations, with ample time for discussions. The deadline for abstract submission is 28th of January 2018.

SENSE: A comparison of photon detection efficiency and optical crosstalk of various SiPM devices

The first scientific paper written in the scope of SENSE is now published. It shows a comparison of photon detection efficiency and optical crosstalk of various SiPM devices measured at different test setups. This was a collaborative work of Geneva University, Catania Observatory and Nagoya University and was presented at the NDIP this summer.

We are glad to announce that the first version of the SENSE Roadmap is ready for download. This Roadmap aims to define the R&D activities that SENSE would like to follow for the development of the ultimate low light-level sensor(s), mainly for future astroparticle physics projects, but as well for other applications, e.g. in medical diagnostics.
