CernSchoolOur colleague Andrii Nagai gave a talk on Sensors for low light-level detection at the CERN school for Ukrainian teachers. The CERN schools for teachers aim to bring modern science into the classroom. With a variety of lectures, on-site visits, exhibitions, and hands-on workshops cutting-edge particle physics are introduced to the participants. The participants shall go back to their schools as ambassadors, who pass on the subject to the next generation of physicists, engineers, IT specialists...

In April the Ukrainian teachers had the possibility to visit CERN for several days with lectures in their native language. The lectures range from indroductory talks about CERN, accelarators and particle physics to neutrino physics, dark matter and low light-level detection. The program also includes visits to e.g. the Data Centre, the ATLAS Control Room, LEIR or the Synchrocyclotron and a Cloud Chamber workshop.
